It has been a while since we’ve heard from Sevyn Streeter but she reemerged today in a very big way. Continuing to establish her brand away from the failed RichGirl collective, the songbird appeared on The Warner Sound where she performed Aaliyah’s “Come Over” in tribute to the later singer.
“Come Over” was included on Aaliyah’s I Care 4 UÂ posthumous compilation and peaked at #32 on the Billboard Hot 100. Streeter breathed new life into the song as she glided through the sensual tone with a few notable changes to the arrangement. Watch her sing “Come Over” below:
Streeter did a great job at tackling “Come Over”, especially because she made it her own. Aaliyah’s songs aren’t vocally challenging but the tone of her voice was so distinct that her records are often regarded as untouchable. Listen to her version of “Come Over” below:
