If you had any doubt that Mariah Carey’s “#Beautiful” is an undeniable hit then take a look at this week’s US charts. Indeed, long after the songbird’s 16-hour radio deal with Clear Channel expired, her new Miguel-assisted single has continued to score massive gains and even cracked the top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100.
“Beautiful” landed at #20 on the Hot 100 this week and earned Carey her first top 20 hit on the lineup since “Obsessed” from her Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel album stalled at #7 in 2009. The song was the biggest airplay gainer this week by rising from #44 to #28 on the Billboard Radio Songs chart with over 42 million audience impressions (up 33%).
Additionally, “#Beautiful” debuted at #41 on the Billboard Streaming Songs lineup with 1.5 million plays (up 223%) during the last week, despite allegations that a YouTube error was attributing its hits to another artist named Mariah Grace. Billboard has yet to verify those claims but hey, “#Beautiful” still sold another 97K downloads, which was more than enough to boost its chart performance.
There is news for Eve fans, on the other hand, as her new Lip Lock album had a less than stellar takeoff this week. The record sold only 8.5K copies at #46 on the Billboard 200. See the other leading releases in the top 10 of both Billboard 200 and the Hot 100 below:
