Ciara is often referred to as one of the best dancers on the music scene but what has she done lately to earn her stripes? Well, judging by her latest string of shows, the answer to that question is “nothing.” For instance, let review footage of Super C’s concert at the indigO2 last evening.
Whether as a result of her attempts at singing live or simply a new approach to entertaining her small gang of fans, Ciara’s indigO2 set was incredibly lacklustre. She kicked off the event with a rendition of “Got Me Goodbye” and instead of performing the high energy moves that were featured in the video, Ciara just sluggishly walking across the stage.
Unfortunately, the nonsense didn’t end there. Ciara also performed one of her earliest hits, “Oh”, and spent more time posing for pictures than she did dancing. That’s if you don’t qualify crawling on the floor, rolling her hips for a few seconds and repeating the same two-step five times as serious choreography.
Ciara even found a way to make “I’m Out” seem utterly dull as her backup dancers did the majority of the work with the exception of a short dance outro at the end of the song. Is this how she plans to make this single a hit or is she relying solely on Nicki Minaj’s feature to build buzz?
Obviously, the novelty of Ciara’s butt-bouncing and stripper moves has faded. She really needs a new choreographer, such as Laurie Ann Gibson, to revamp her routines and fine tune her stage shows. Just imagine, Ciara went from being called the next Janet Jackson to second best to Beyonce in less than a decade and she’s still only 27 years of age.
