“Why won’t SoundScan let me sit with them?”

While Jay-Z continued to submit pleas to Billboard to bend the rules and accept his so called new rules, Roc Nation hosted a special scavenger hunt in New York City today to build buzz for the arrivale of Magna Carta Holy Grail. What did the people with nothing better to do on a Saturday win? A fancy book containing the track list of the album.

Magna Carta will entail productions by Timbaland, Swizz Beatz, Rick Rubin, and Pharrell, and will be available as a “free” download to 1 million Samsung Galaxy S III, Galaxy S 4 and Note II users on July 4. However, Billboard and Nielsen SoundScan have rejected requests by Jay-Z to count the giveaways as part of his album sales.  Instead, only copies sold via retailers from the July 7 date will be tallied.
