Kelly Rowland’s new song, “Dirty Laundry”, tells the story of domestic abuse at the hands of an unnamed lover and the envy that she had for Beyonce’s solo success. However, when she appeared on The Rise & Grind Morning Show to talk about the record, she revealed that the tension has blossomed into friendly competition.
Candidly speaking from behind her thick shades, Rowland explained that “Dirty Laundry” is an honest song about her experiences as a young woman and that the lyrics are truly reflective of a time of her life when she wasn’t on good terms with Beyonce. Now, free of the drama, she has reconnected with her “sister” and learned how to handle the constant comparison made between them.
Rowland also spoke about the general direction of her upcoming Talk a Good Game album (due on June 18th) and her role on the new season of The X Factor (US). With all the wisdom she gathered during the last decade of her career, she certainly has much to share with the next generation of artists. Minus how to sing without gasping for air, of course.
