Walmart was the first retail outlet to reveal the title of Mariah Carey’s highly anticipated new album but without confirmation from any member of the icon’s team, credible news sources waited for official word. However, just moments ago, Carey’s longtime friend and co-producer Jermaine Dupri announced the name of the record to her fans.
The Art of Letting Go will be released on July 23rd as Carey’s first non-Holiday album in three years. The record will include contributions from an array of hit-makers, such as Dupri, Darkchild, Bryan-Michael Cox, The-Dream, R. Kelly, Big Jim Wright, Hit-Boy and Mike WiLL Made It.
“Melancholic moment letting go of something this personal to me,” Carey said after an emotional recording session in Capri as she added the final tweaks to The Art over the weekend. “I couldn’t be more excited to give three years of my soul to the fans.”
“#Beautiful”, the leading single from The Art, has thus far peaked at #15 on the Billboard Hot 100 and sold over 485K downloads in the US. Carey recently shared behind the scenes shots of her on the set of a new video with her duet partner, Miguel, and sparked rumours that a remix of the tune will hit the airwaves soon.
