Monica and Jermaine Dupri

Monica first announced that she was preparing the followup to her low-selling New Life album in October 2012 but since that time, little information regarding the project has been shared. Thankfully, Jermaine Dupri was happy to share studio footage of the R&B singer recording material for the record, which is due for release later this year.

Between takes in the latest episode of Living the Life, Monica laid vocals on several unnamed tracks with assistance of Dupri and Bryan-Michael Cox. The latter pair have joined an extensive list of producers contributing to the album, such as Rico Love, Jim Jonson, Stargate, Mike Will, Polow da Don and Missy Elliott.

Monica is currently pregnant so there is no word regarding if her album will be delayed further as she prepares for the arrival of her third child. Meanwhile, New Life is being treated as a distant memory with little over 190K copies sold in the US since April 2012.
