Kelly Rowland cites Janet Jackson as a major inspiration for her career and has emulated the icon’s style in many of her works. For her latest ode to Jackson, the Destiny’s Child runner up has crafted a new song called “Gone” and it is based on a certain classic from The Velvet Rope.
Sampling Joni Mitchell’s “Big Yellow Taxi”, “Gone” features rapper Wiz Khalifa. However, the title of the track is clearly drawn from Jackson’s “Got ’til it’s Gone”, which included an appearance by the legendary Q-Tip and also sampled “Taxi”. Now, we wait to see of Rowland will also copy Jackson’s outfits and hairstyles in the accompany “Gone” video.
