Melanie Fiona’s “Cold Piece” single cover

Earlier this week, Melanie Fiona shared exclusive studio footage with her fans that showed her recording a new song called “Cold Piece”. Now, the singer has released the final product, which was produced by Alan Nglish, and it the R&B number is even better than expected!

“Cold Piece” is driven by an understated piano melody and drum arrangement, and entails subtle influences of Reggae music. However, Fiona’s vocal performance is the standout element of the track and she sings the telling lyrics in her lower register, which is strikingly similar to that of Brandy.

Fiona is currently working on her third studio album and the followup to her slow-selling The MF Life. She has yet to announce the release date of the record but judging by “Cold Piece”, she is heading in the right direction. Listen to her new song below:
