Ghosts of Ciara and Nicki Minaj’s careers

In case you didn’t know, Ciara’s “I’m Out” has yet to crack the Billboard Hot 100. So, capitalising on the hype generated by the 2013 BET Awards weekend, the unfortunate performer has released a new video to support the song and it features Nicki Minaj.

Ciara’s self-titled new album is still scheduled to hit stores on July 9th. This week, the record’s fourth lead single, “Body Party”, top Urban radio and rebounded to #38 on the Hot 100, thus proving to be a slow burner on the charts. Will Ciara score a followup hit? Overlooking the blatant product placement, and the imitations of Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson’s “Scream”, the “I’m Out” video is a winner. The choreography is on point, Minaj joins the routines without looking completely stiff and the various scenes actually make the song more enjoyable. Whether this clip will boost the chart performance of “I’m Out” has yet to be seen but at least Ciara gave it her best shot.
