Clearly, there is room for both Justin Timberlake and Robin Thicke on the US charts. The crooners both enjoyed success on the Billboard lineups this week as the former surged back into the top 5 of the Billboard 200 while his source of inspiration maintained his lead on the Hot 100.
As a result of a special Father’s Day sale, Timberlake’s The 20/20 Experience depicted a 31% sales increase with 35K copies sold. The album was promoted via a massive email campaign with a discounted $6.99 price tag on iTunes and climbed to a new sales total of 1.99 million copies in the US.
Meanwhile, Thicke continued his lead on the Hot 100 with “Blurred Lines (Ft. T.I. & Pharrell)”. The track sold 371K downloads (up 18%) this week and was further bolster by 96 million audience impressions (up 32%) as well as 3.7 million (up 6%). On the other hand, Timberlake’s “Mirrors” dipped from #4 to #5 on the Hot 100.
By the way, Chrisette Michele’s Better missed the Billboard 200 top 10 by debuting at #12 with little over 27K copies sold. See the other leading releases in the top 10 of both Billboard 200 and the Hot 100 below:
