The 2013 Essence Music Festival weekend ended last evening with a performance by everybody’s favourite rump-shaker, Beyonce. Supported by her troop of dancers and her trusty backtrack, the singer gave the crowd at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome a taste of The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour.
Beyonce performed many of her hits, including “Run the World (Girls)”, “Get Me Bodied” and “Diva”, at the sold out Essence Festival show as she stood amidst massive stage production and perfectly timed set changes. As usual, however, Beyonce did not tailor the concert to engage the New Orleans crowd and simply repeated the same sequence of all her previous Mrs. Carter dates.
Hey, Beyonce may not be original, interactive with her fans or very interesting without the moving parts of a big stage orchestrated by director Frank Gatson, but at least she has her routines in order. Watch her Essence Festival performances below:
