Beyonce’s team must think that everybody is as naive and ignorant as her maniac fans. As news about the singer’s album being completely revamped and postponed until the end of the year continues to spread via multiple sources, a representative from the singer’s camp has issued a statement suggesting that there was never a set release date for the album.
Back in June, Ne-Yo was the first to indicate that there was trouble in Beyonce’s camp when he revealed that they were still plotting the direction of the music. The songwriter’s comments were later followed by similar sentiments from Diplo, who stated that the album was in peril and that he was called in to fix several of the songs. However, the latter quickly backtracked on his comments after facing backlash from fans as well as Beyonce’s management.
Now, in the latest development regarding a diva desperately trying to find her place among a crop of more commercially relevant artists, it has been reported that Beyonce is back to square one and her album has been scrapped. That’s right, over 50 tracks crafted by Ryan Tedder, The-Dream, Sia, Diane Warren and Ne-Yo have been dumped by the wayside along with the integrity of songwriters who allegedly sell her a cut of their publishing credits.
Columbia Records reportedly scheduled Beyonce’s new album to arrive in stores by late spring but after numerous delays, even a fall debut seems very unlikely. In fact, Columbia executives planned for Beyonce to compete with Universal Music Group’s Lady Gaga and Katy Perry, but luckily for her, that won’t happen. Honestly, can you imagine the embarrassment Beyonce will endure if she was outsold by Gaga and Perry, both of whom easily topped the success of her 4 album with numerous top 10 hits and more than double her record sales?
Of course, Beyonce’s team have attempted to shoot down the speculation surrounding her album by claiming, “there was never an album release date.” So, they expect us to believe that she only performed at the Super Bowl Halftime Show and partnered with Pepsi for one of the biggest media campaigns in history just for fun?
What about “Grown Woman”? Ahead of its debut in Pepsi commercials, the song was touted as the official lead single from the album before mysteriously being rebranded as just a buzz cut and then completely removed from all rhetoric relating to the project.
Yes, Beyonce’s team must really think that we’re all ignorant about how the music industry works. Although she never announced an official release date, a tentative schedule must have been set to govern the rollout of events that occurred earlier this year.
On the other hand, all of this talk may be yet another clever manipulation of the media by Beyonce’s team to keep us talking about her music so that when it is finally released, we will be even more eager to hear it. Either that or she is once again trying to steal Ashanti’s shine as she races to become the new Queen of Album Delays.
