Now, a moment with Maxwell. Before appearing onstage at the 2013 Essence Music Festival last evening, the elusive singer stad down for a rare backstage interview in which he spoke about his highly anticipated new album, SUMMERS’, and explained why has taken so long to complete the record that will probably change our lives forever.
“This new album is another movement into experimenting with soul music, showing people that we don’t paint by numbers,” stated Maxwell in such a cool fashion as the interviewer fought the urge to pass out. “I don’t rush to release things. I’m not in love with fame. I’m in love with the creation of music.”
Maxwell, who recently turned 40 years of age, also hinted that he is planning a duet with Marsha Ambrosius that will appear on SUMMERS’ alongside the previously previewed “Gods”. Watch him talk about his new music below:
