Elijah Blake’s Songs of Melody will hit stores later this year, and although the single “X.O.X.” is slowly gaining momentum on radio, he has released another new song for good measure. “Vendetta” features the singer-songwriter’s Roc Nation brother J. Cole and has a faster tempo than his previous offerings.
“The album is called Songs of Melody cause all the songs are about one girl,” explained Blake to The Juice. “I couldn’t use her name but melody is my strong point when I write songs so [with] the wordplay, melody can be about a girl or that feeling that you get when you hear a great melody.”
In addition to Cole, Big Sean and Common will also contribute verses to Songs of Melody. Listen to Blake’s “Vendetta” below:
Blake definitely models his singing style after that of Usher and the melody of this song is strangely similar to Wale’s “Bad”, but it is still a very good effort. In fact, with the right promotion at radio, it could be a hit on both Urban and Rhythmic formats. Only if Roc Nation doesn’t drop the ball, of course.
