The legacy of Dick Clark lives on. Janelle Monae has released the new video for her second The Electric Lady single, “Dance Apocalyptic”, and it channels the retro setting of American Bandstand as well as the fiery performance of style of the great Tina Turner. However, the best facet is that Monae let’s her hair down!
The Electric Lady, which will feature appearances by Erykah Badu, Prince and Miguel, will hit stores on September 10. Monae recently had the honor of closing the 2013 BET Awards with a rousing performance of the album’s lead single, “Q.U.E.E.N.”, in her usual black and white ensemble.
“Dance Apocalyptic” includes more colour than Monae’s previous releases and she even tries her hand at acting. Is it worth viewing? The only way to find out is to watch it below:
