Justin Timberlake blatantly ripped off Michael Jackson’s sound for his new song, “Take Back the Night”, so we shouldn’t be surprised that he did the same with its accompanying video. Boogying in the streets, the singer channels the moves of the late King of Pop.
Remember the Jackson met up with Alfonso Ribeiro (Carlton Banks) in that 1980s Pepsi commercial and showed him a few moves? Well, Timberlake did exactly like that in “Take Back the Night” before heading to the club to party with his friends in a few less inspired scenes. Hey, creative directors aren’t cheap and he clearly didn’t want to deal with that additional cost.
Timberlake will release his The 20/20 Experience 2 of 2 album on September 30. I wonder if he will perform “Take Back the Night” at the 2013 MTV VMA on August 25? If he does, it would be nice if he paid homage to Jackson with a mention of his idol’s name, at least. Watch the video for the song below:
