Kanye West thinks he’s a god among men but judging by the less than awesome performance of his Yeezus album on the US charts, he is just a regular guy with a massive ego and little to show for it. Just how bad are the rapper’s album sales? They are so bad that he has earned a very humbling spot in the history books.
Yeezus sold little over 65K copies this week and lost its grip at the top of the Billboard 200. This figures represent an 80.27% dip from the 327K units the record sold last week, therefore ranking West at fourth place among artists with #1 albums boasting the biggest second frame declines in SoundScan history (1991-present).
In fact, West’s Yeezus barely beat the 79.42% sales drop of Jay-Z’s Kingdom Come, which tumbled from #1 to to #6 on the Billboard 200 after selling 140K copies in its second seek (it debuted with 680K). Who is ranked higher that the Roc Nation heavyweights(?) on the not so prestigious list? Check out the lineup below:
April 21, 2012 – Madonna’s MDNA – 86.70% (from 359K to 48K at #8)
June 18, 2011 – Lady Gaga’s Born This Way – 84.28% (from 1.11 million to 174K at #1)
Dec. 3, 2011 – Mac Miller’s Blue Slide Park – 82.54% (from 144K to 25K at #24)
July 13, 2013 – Kanye West’s Yeezus – 80.27% (from 327K to 65K at #3)
Dec. 16, 2006 – Jay-Z’s Kingdom Come – 79.42% (from 680K to 140K at #6)
