It appears that Brandy has officially closed the chapter on the Two Eleven era of her career. Despite her fans’ numerous petitions to RCA Records to release another single from the album, the singer has seemingly abandoned the project altogether as she hit the studio with producer Mike WiLL Made it to record new music.
Brandy tweeted the above image of herself with Mike WiLL early this morning, effectively confirming reports that she is hard at work on fresh material. However, it is still unclear if their session was for a new album or another project – soundtrack, remix or guest appearance on another artist’s song.
Since being released in October 2012, Two Eleven has sold only 187,000 copies in the US. The only singles issued to support the album were “Put it Down (Ft. Chris Brown)” and “Wildest Dreams”, and only the former managed to chart on the Billboard Hot 100 where it peaked at #65.
So, is a new album really the best move for Brandy at this point? Honestly, with the public showing little interest in her songs, it may be best if she ventured away from music and continued to build her brand as an actress. Additionally, she always has the option of touring with her old material and avoiding the embarrassment of low-charting records. Still, if music is truly her passion, who are we to stop her?
