Katy Perry performs with the Rolling Stones

Now, in “we all saw this coming news”, Katy Perry has joined the lineup of entertainers for the 2013 MTV VMA. Set to air live from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York on August 25, the mega event will feature the singer performing her new song, “Roar”, for the first time.

Other stars set to rock the MTV VMA stage include the previously announced Kanye West and Lady Gaga. A massive promotional campaign for the show has been running on the MTV network during the last month, plugging the return of the latter, who will perform her recently released “Applause” single.

Who else will appear at the MTV VMA? Well, I expect nominees Justin Timberlake, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Miley Cyrus and Drake to join the lineup but that’s all just speculation…right? Watch Perry perform “I Kissed a Girl” at the 2008 MTV VMA when she was still relatively unknown below:
