No diva catalogue is complete without an over the top, sugary ode to the Holiday season, so Leona Lewis has finally decided to get to it. After months of swirling speculation among her fans, the young diva has confirmed rumours that she is in fact recording her first Christmas album.
Little is known about Lewis’ Christmas set at this point but has been confirmed to arrive later this year. The record follows her slow-selling Glassheart album, which peaked at #3 on the UK Albums Chart and has yet to be released in the US. That’s right, plans to issue the latter in the US have been halted indefinitely or in other words, it flopped in the UK so why bother wasting time and money promoting it in the far more competitive international market?
Now, some of you may be wondering if it is too soon for a Christmas album from Lewis but if we follow the trajectory of the career of the Butterfly Diva Who Shall Not Be Named, this record is right on time. Honestly, despite being a solid effort, audiences simply weren’t interested in the poorly marketed EDM direction of Glassheart but a Holiday-themed set performed by a vocalist of Lewis’ calibre, will be perfectly suited for the Adult Contemporary market.
