Perhaps R. Kelly’s upcoming Black Panties album won’t be a complete embarrassment after all. During an interview with Fuse, the King of R&B, who seems to be weathering a midlife crisis, revealed that the record will feature an appearance by the more mature Alicia Keys.
“I did about 250 songs for [Black Panties] and we broke it down to 40,” Kelly explained to Fuse. “We had a hard time taking 13 out of 40 but we finally got that nailed and we got Alicia on it. I’m feeling really good about it!” Hopefully, the duo won’t sing about pianos and stripper poles on a warm summer night.
The lead Black Panties single, “My Story (Ft. 2 Chainz)”, is currently #46 on Urban radio and climbing at a steady pace. Watch Kelly talk about his new music on Fuse below:
