This is the type of news to make a person question what’s real in life. K. Michelle will officially transition from obnoxious reality television star to top-selling artist when her Rebellious Soul debut album enters the top 10 of the Billboard 200 next week and outsells Kelly Rowland, Ciara and Brandy’s latest releases.
According early sales predictions, Rebellious Soul will land the second highest debut on the Billboard 200 with sales of 65,000-70,000, despite failing to generate a major hit on the Billboard Hot 100. Of course, what’s even more shocking is the fact that it will outpace albums by more established acts.
Here are a few details to put this news into perspective: Brandy’s Two Eleven album debut at #3 on the Billboard 200 with 65,000 copies sold. Kelly Rowland’s Talk a Good Game, on the other hand, started at #4 with 68,000 and Ciara’s Ciara landed at #2 with 58,000. So, Rebellious Soul will rival and probably top them all.
Now, let’s wait to see if Michelle’s latest Twitter sparring partner, Tamar Braxton, can best her sales when Love & War arrives in September. Watch the video for Michelle’s “V.S.O.P.” below:
