Katy Perry’s “Roar” single cover

Katy Perry continued to gradually roll out her new song, “Roar”, earlier today when she revealed its accompanying single cover. Flaunting her dark hear yet still clearly inspired by the colourful 1980s era, the singer-songwriter is backed by eye of the tiger as she readies her chart return.

“Roar” will be released on August 12 and it is now available for preorder on iTunes. The song’s parent album, Prism, will hit stores on October 22 and promises to be a less Dance-driven brand of Pop. Will Perry perform her new music at the 2013 MTV VMA on August 25? That has yet to be confirmed but you can get a glimpse of “Roar” in the special teaser below:
