Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines (Ft. T.I. & Pharrell)” single cover

Katy Perry’s “Roar” has been already very successful on the charts but no matter how popular the song gets, it just can’t topple Robin Thicke’s summer anthem, “Blurred Lines”, from the summit of the Billboard Hot 100. Additionally, the song is now facing competition from another Pop giant.

“Blurred Lines” has logged a stunning 12th week atop the Hot 100, therefore making Thicke the undisputed King of the Summer. The song attracted over 221.3 million audience impressions during the last 7 days as well as 251,000 downloads, bringing its total digital sales to 5.16 million.

“Roar”, on the other hand, sold 392,000 downloads this week (down 30%) at #2 with 76 million audience impressions and no supporting music video. However, Lady Gaga’s “Applause” is slowly gaining ground at #4 after selling 163,000 (down 25%) and attracting 37 million audience impression (up 19%). Perry’s video better be good enough to give “Roar” a boost or else she might lose a shot at the Hot 100 peak.
