Adele and Jessie J dominated the list of 2012 BRIT Awards nominations with 3 nods each and now they have extended their rule to the charts. Impressively, both women have returned to the top of the UK Albums Chart and the Official UK Singles Chart, respectively.
It appears that 2012 will be the year of Jessie J. Indeed, after scoring three nominations for this year’s BRIT Awards and a spot on the panel of ‘The Voice (UK)’, the singer has vaulted to the top of the Official UK Singles Chart and claimed her 2nd #1 single on the tally.
Just couple weeks shy of the anniversary of its release, Adele’s ’21′ has made history yet again. Specifically, the album, which was the UK’s top-selling album of 2011, has notched more weeks at the summit of the UK Albums Chart than any other studio album in 40 years.
The 40th annual installment of ‘Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve’ aired this evening and some of the brightest stars of 2011 hit the stage to welcome the new year. Hosted by Ryan Seacrest, the show featured appearances from Nicki Minaj, Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Beyonce and several others.
The 2011 American Giving Awards were held on December 9th and the crowd were treated to the auto-tuned sounds of will.i.am and Taio Cruz. Both performers rocked the crowd at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles with renditions of their latest club hits.
In addition to a dazzling performance of ‘Marry The Night’ by the ever-eccentric Lady Gaga at the 2011 MTV European Music Awards today, a host of other acts also hit the stage. Among these artists were Jessie J, Jason Derulo and Bruno Mars, who all delivered unique showings at the annual event.
Taio Cruz shut off the strobe lights of the club and stepped into the shadows for the cover of his new album, ‘TY.O’. The once meaningful artist enlisted several acts for the record’s 11-song tracklist including Pitbull and Flo Rida, the latter of whom appeared on the project’s lead single, ‘Hungover’.
Taio Cruz started October with the release of his new single, ‘Hungover’, and as the month draws to an end he has premiered the song’s accompanying video. Featuring a now bald Flo Rida, the record will appear on Cruz’s upcoming ‘TY.O’ album, which debuts on December 6th.
Taio Cruz is known for his successful singles but he has yet to score a hit album and his latest song exemplifies the cause of his problem. ‘Hangover’, which features Flo Rida, is a new release from the Pop star and it exhibits a striking similarity to his previous single ‘Dynamite’.
Adele’s ’21′ was released 31 weeks ago but the album is still exceeding all expectations on the UK Albums Chart. However, the same can’t be said about The Throne’s ‘Watch The Throne‘, which has tumbled out of the top 10 in its 3rd week on the lineup.
