Eve Talks ‘Lip Lock’, Nicki Minaj & More with The Lava Lizard

With Eve hot on the promo trail for her Lip Lock album, it was only a matter of time before she made a stop at The Lava Lizard for an interview! However, her new music wasn't the only topic on the bill, and the rapper was happy to share her thoughts on a range of other issues, including the struggling Hip-Hop movement and Nicki Minaj.

Eve offered interesting answers to questions concerning the long delay of her Lip Lock album, uniting with Lil Kim and Missy Elliott on a new song, and the slow start of her recent singles on the charts. She also revealed plans for a tour and offered advice for boosting the positon of women in Hip-Hop.

New Song: Mario – “Somebody Else (Ft. Nicki Minaj)”

When it first announced that Nicki Minaj would appear on Mario's new song, "Somebody Else", fans of the crooner groaned and complained. However, the Polow Da Don-produced track has hit the airwaves and guess what? It's actually relatively impressive!

"Somebody Else" is the lead single from Mario's upcoming fifth studio album, which he promises will be a revival for the struggling R&b genre. So, has he accomplished his goal? Listen to the radio rip of "Somebody Else" below and prepare your verdict:

Polow Da Don was obviously inspired by Swizz Beatz and Alicia Keys' recent works when he crafted this mix of crashing drums. In fact, that beat is the backbone of the song and should help it to gain momentum quickly on Urban radio. Additionally, Minaj's verse is far from the Pop fodder than she dropped during the last year and a return to form. All in all, "Somebody Else" could be a hit with the right backing and I'm eager to see how Mario promotes it.

Prince Closes 2013 Billboard Music Awards

The 2013 Billboard Music Awards show was generally uneventful but a legend brought the crowd to life at the very last moment. Prince emerged from the shadows to accept this year's Icon Award from Janelle Monae and Erykah Badu, and reminded the world of his legendary status.

Flaunting his expanding afro, Prince performed "Let’s Go Crazy" and his new song, "Fix Ur Life Up", as young music fans experienced his greatness for the first. "Where have you been all my live, oh great saviour " yelled Bobby from the crowd before fainting into his best friend's arms.

Okay, I made the last part up but it sums up how many people, who never heard Prince's music, felt on Twitter. Watch him receive a standing ovation at the Billboard Music Awards below:

Now that the 2013 Billboard Music Awards ceremony has come to an end, it's time to clear the dust and observe the damage. By that, I'm referring to the complete list of winners from this year's event, which was dominated by young Pop stars from Justin Bieber to Taylor Swift and Nicki Minaj.

Swift was crowned lady of the night when she took home the Top Artist, Top Female Artist and Top Billboard 200 Artist honors. Naturally, she pretended to be surprised by the wins, although the titles reflected her chart performance during the last year and she was obviously a frontrunner in each field.

Nicki Minaj Dances Awkwardly 2013 Billboard Music Awards

The only think Nicki Minaj does worse than singing is dancing and she proved that at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards. The parttime rapper included some strange choreography into her performance of "High School" with Lil Wayne this evening that left many viewers of the show confused.

It has yet to be determined if Minaj was trying to wine, "twerk" or of simply shake her obnoxious rump but one thing is certain: conservative middle Americas is happy to see her leave the American Idol judges panel after displaying such wild behaviour. After Pitbull finished performing his own single, "Feel this Moment" with Christina Aguilera at the Billboard Music Awards, the ubiquitous rapper gave the rapper a viewers a second glimpse of his bulge when he assisted Jennifer Lopez. What did they perform? Lopez's new song, "Live it Up".

The video for "Live it Up" was released earlier this week but it is quite dull when compared to Lopez strutting her stuff to the tune during her Billboard Music Awards showing. In fact, she had one of the best performances of the night in her shimmering ensemble. Watch her in action below:

Miguel Crashes into Fan at 2013 Billboard Music Awards

The 2013 Billboard Music Awards took a frightening yet hilarious turn when Miguel hit the stage for a performance of "Adorn". While belting unusually off-key notes, the singer-songwriter got overly excited and attempted to leap over the mosh pit but accidentally crashed into a fan!

"Got caught up in the moment," Miguel explained on Twitter after his shocking showing. "thank goodness Khyati is okay." For his sake, the stunned young woman better be in great shape or else his kaleidoscope dream will become a legal nightmare. Watch Miguel and Billboard Music Awards tragedy below:

Pitbull Performs & Christina Aguilera Perform at Billboard Music Awards

Christina Aguilera must have heard how horrible Chris Brown and Justin Bieber sounded at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards because she took the safe route by relying on a backtrack. Slim and tanned, the diva teamed with Pitbull for a performance of "Feel this Moment" and barely sang a note during the set.

Joining the backtrack fun was A-ha’s Morten Harket to perform “Take on Me", which Pitbull sample for "Feel this Moment". Usually, this is where I would point out all the problems associated with Aguilera using technology for such an easy song but she looked so good that she deserves a pass. Justin Bieber Talks Through 2013 Billboard Music Awards Performance

Chris Brown was the only artist who struggled through his performance at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards this evening. Justin Bieber also experience severe complications during the show as he "sang" an array of flat notes over an incredibly loud backtrack of "Take You".

Bieber basically talked his way through his Billboard Music Awards performance as he missed several steps of his choreography. Why was he in even worse vocal shape than usual? Well, the answer was revealed when Bieber accepted the Top Male Artist award and his voice trembled as he spoke. It appears that puberty has finally caught up with the teen sensation.
