Lady GaGa Slams Critics In The Advocate

Lady GaGa has finally reached ‘the edge’ with her critics. The pop superstar, who is featured on the cover of August issue of The Advocate, has slammed her detractors who claim that she uses the gay community as a sales ploy, stating that such claims are “the most ridiculous statements anyone can make”.

The outspoken performer also denounced any comments that she is currently feuding with biggest influence, Madonna, who she is often accused of copying. Read what she had to say below:

On claims that she uses the LGBT community

“To say that I would use the gay community to sell records is probably one of the most ridiculous statements anyone can make about me as a person,” Gaga states. “I would say the top thing I think about every single day of my life, other than my fans, loving the music, and my family being healthy, is social justice and equality.”

On her relationship with Madonna

“There’s no drama, there’s no jealousy, there’s no competition,” she says about the females she admires. “They’re just happy to see other women winning.”

“I just feel so connected to Madonna in a lot of ways, and I feel connected to Barbra [Streisand], and I feel connected to Cher and Blondie and all of the women who came before me,” Gaga said, referencing other female pop stars who became beloved by the gay contingent. “I worshiped them my whole life, and I would never be where I am today without all of them to inspire me. I feel so grateful that I have such strong women to look up to.”

  2. BritSLAY:

She is such a fraud. She is using the gays for sales. This is why everybody prefers Britney.

If many people prefer Britney then where is her album in the charts? #oops

  4. Bri:

I’m just bothered that she called Blondie a woman. I’m sure it was a mistake though.

Gaga has stated since her debut that the gat community in New York was the first group of people who accepted her music which is why she caters to them. Janet and Madonna did the same thing. When the gay community began buying their music, they began writing songs about issues affecting the gay community. So I don’t why Gaga is getting heat. Anyway, Born This Way has already sold nearly 4 million copies WW in under 2 months, so she’s still #WINNING
