Music Minute!

Did you know that George Michael’s ‘Faith’ was the first album by a white solo artist to nab the #1 spot on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart?

‘Faith’ landed in the peak position of the lineup, which was previously called the Top Black Albums chart, shortly after it was released on October 30th 1987. The LP was also the top-selling album in the US in 1988, even outperforming Michael Jackson’s ‘Bad’, and scored 4 #1 singles, making George the only male British artist to achieve that feat.

‘Faith’ also holds the record for the longest stay at #1 on the Billboard 200 with an unbelievable 12 week-run. However, Adele matched that feat with her ’21′ album in August 2011.

Now you know!

Amazing album – all the more so because he wrote, produced and composed it almost single-handedly
