Don’t call Miguel’s ‘Art Dealer Chic, Vol. 1′ a mixtape because he has proclaimed that this 3-song set is an EP. Indeed, including the single ‘Adorn’ as well as ‘That I Do (FTRMX)’ and ‘Gravity’, the record is a mini-release in every sense of the term.
Miguel has been busy recording his new album in London but before her finalises the record, he will issue a series of EPs. The first release of the bunch is ‘Art Dealer Chic, Vol. 1′, which will be issued on February 27th with the inclusion of a new song called ‘Adorn’.
VEVO and Grey Goose joined forces to orchestrate a special ‘Rising Icons’ documentary to showcase the many talents of Miguel. Describing his musical journey and the creative processes that are usually involved in his art, the singer/songwriter proved exactly how important music is to him when he almost erupted into tears on the set.
Miguel learned a difficult lesson about the politics of the music industry last evening when he didn’t receive a single mention on the list of the 2012 Grammy Awards nominations. However, the R&B singer wasn’t shy about sharing his feelings about the snub and took to Twitter to discuss the incident.
The UNCF ‘An Evening of Stars’ aired this weekend on BET. The momentous event included performances from Patti Labelle, Jill Scott, Miguel and several others who wowed the audience with their vocal showings.
Despite scoring two of the year’s most successful R&B singles with ‘Sure Thing’ and ‘All I Want Is You (Ft. J. Cole)’, Miguel has been unable to make a dent on the album charts. However, the singer/songwriter is ready to try again with a new socially conscious record scheduled for release by April next year.
Miguel released the video for ‘Quickie’ just moments ago. The latest single from his ‘All I Want Is You’ album, the song has already climbed to #17 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.
