Despite cancelling the remaining dates of her European tour last week, Solange’s schedule doesn’t seem to be showing any signs of slowing down. In a recent interview with Billboard, the 27-year old singer dished on her new album and her independent label, Saint Records.
Beyonce isn’t the only Knowles family member who loves to pop, lock and drop it onstage. At the Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago this week, Solange was happy to squat and grind for her fans as she performed her music in her own unique fashions.
The 2013 Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts kicked off today with performances by several acts from the fields of Pop, Rock and R&B. Both Rita Ora and Solange were also present to party with the crowd of what appeared to be intoxicated hippies, and they did so in style.
There are several perks associated with being a member of Knowles clan and Solange proved that with a major announcement earlier today. Without a major hit or certified album to her name, Beyonce younger sister has launched her own label, Saint Records, under the Sony Music Entertainment umbrella.
Kendrick Lamar is clearly the dominate go-to man on Hip-Hop music scene. Following the trend, Solange has teamed up with the rapper to feature on the remix of “Looks Good with Trouble”, which originally featured on her True EP, released late last year.
Beyonce isn’t the only member of the Knowles clan who happily sells her music to the highest-bidding company. The singer’s younger sister, Solange, has jumped on the jingle bandwagon by teaming with Refinery29 and Absolut Tune for the release of her new video for “Locked in Closets”.
The 2013 Costume Institute Gala, commonly known as the Met Gala, for the “PUNK: Chaos to Couture” exhibition is currently underway at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. As the fashion event of the year, the event has attracted hundreds of celebrities, including Beyonce, Madonna, Nicki Minaj and Katy Perry.
Aaliyah didn’t have the most powerful voice in music but her rich tone made her songs very difficult to cover. Unfortunately, Solange learned that the hard way at Coachella this weekend when she attempted to sing the late songbird’s “Hot like Fire” during her surprise set.
Forget about “Single Ladies” and “Thriller” because Solange has some fancy footwork that puts all those routines to shame. While performing her critically acclaimed song “Losing You” at Fader Fort’s SXSW, the younger Knowles sister got into the groove with her unique two-step.
When Solange revealed the original cover for her True EP, I was rather confused as to why she made the cover so plain. However, to better represent her personality, she will be releasing a limited physical edition of the set and fans will be treated to revamped vibrant artwork.
