Lil Kim entered the new millenium as one of the dominant forces in Hip-Hop and was primed to rule the charts in yet another decade. However, following her arrest in 2005, countless plastic surgery procedures that dramatically altered her appearance and a bitter feud with Nicki Minaj, Kim’s career has disintegrated to an all time low.
Now, classified as nothing more than shadow of her former glory, Kim has become a pariah of the industry with her only notable contribution to modern culture being the catchphrase “pay homage”. In fact, Minaj once referred to Kim as a “sore loser” who had “ruined her own legacy”.
Even when the state of Kim’s affairs finally appeared to be improving after she signed to Universal Music Group, she was unceremoniously removed from Monica’s new single, ‘Anything (To Find You)’, and replaced with the more commercially viable Rick Ross. Unfortunately, Kim’s reign as Hip-Hop’s leading lady has truly come to an end.
Still, many wonder if there is any hope for Kim to regain her spot at the top. Indeed, regardless of the embarrassingly unimpressive material that she has put forward in recent years, Kim still delivers fleeting moments of brilliance that inspire hope amongst her dwindled fanbase.
So, what we want to know is if you think that Kim could forge a comeback or has her identity been tarnished beyond repair? ‘Like’ The Lava Lizard on Facebook and join out debate below:
