Did you know that Stevie Wonder has won 25 Grammy Awards?
The legendary singer/songwriter nabbed 25 trophies throughout his career, not including the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award with which he was honored in 1996. Incredibly, Wonder has won the Album of the Year title on 3 occasions and is tied with Frank Sinatra and Paul Simon as the biggest winners in that category.
However, it is important to note that self-produced artists who won Grammys for Record of the Year and Album of the Year from 1965 to 1980 were given 2 trophies in each category – 1 as a performer and 1 as a producer. Hence, as a ramification of that rule, Wonder’s naysayers claim that he only won 22 Grammys to date.
