R. Kelly Announces ‘Black Panties’ Album

R. Kelly released his ’12 Play’ debut album almost 18 years ago but he can still harness the sexual energy of his youth when needed. In fact, the most successful R&B artist of the last 25 years is preparing to return to his roots with his next album, entitled ‘Black Panties’, where he promises to remind people of his #1 status.
Although the record has yet to be given a release date, R. Kelly confirmed that it will be preceded by the lead single ’10 Minutes’. Listen to him break the news on the ‘Tony Sculfield & The Morning Riot’ radio show below where he also spoke about his younger counterparts Chris Brown and Trey Songz:

If any other R&B artist suggested this type of album then it would have been almost blasphemous but following the genius of ‘Love Letter’ and the string of classics that he has crafted both for himself and other artist in the last two decades, R. Kelly could get away with almost anything. Really, with a voice and writing skills like his, it would be hard not appreciate his work. Bring on ‘Black Panties’!

I attended the love letter tour and it was awesome. I love the cd also so bring on black panties because I’ll purchase that cd too.
In true marketing heaven, a serious album for the older fans followed by and a completely ratchet album for the younger fans.
He’s been doing this for the last 4 or 5 albums now. I hope this album is better than that ‘Double Up’ mess he put out a few years ago.
