New Song: Dawn Richard – ‘SMFU (Save Me From U)’

Dawn Richard gave her fans a glimpse of the musical direction of her upcoming solo debut with this new song entitled ‘SMFU (Save Me From You)’. Produced by Druski, the record will appear on Dawn’s ‘GoldenHeart’ concept album.

Dawn has clearly been heavily influenced by Brandy because the arrangement of this record would suit the latter perfectly. However, that similarity is actually a positive as Dawn’s melodic contralto sounded phenomenal over the keyed production.

Although Dawn has essentially been Diddy’s background singer in Diddy-Dirty Money for almost 2 years, she was undoubtedly the main attraction of the group because of her unique tone. Hopefully, ‘GoldenHeart’ includes more material like ‘SMFU’ that will effectively reflect her talent as a singer and songwriter. Indeed, many people would prefer to hear Dawn’s voice as part of the Danity Kane quintet but her solo project should keep them satisfied until that miraculous reunion occurs.
