Nicole Scherzinger Gives ‘The X Factor (UK)’ A ‘Try’

Nicole Scherzinger traveled to the UK to perform her new single, ‘Try With Me’, on ‘The X Factor (UK)’. The song is the lead release from the ‘The X Factor (US)’ judge’s repackaged ‘Killer Love’ album, which will hit stores on November 14th.

‘Try With Me’ was made available in the UK today. Watch Scherzinger’s performance below:

Scherzinger is a talented vocalist but as as noted on many previous occasions, she has yet to display her own identity. Indeed, the opening segment of this performance sounded strikingly similar to the stylings of Avril Lavigne and made me wonder if Scherzinger was simply doing another of her famous impersonations like the mockery she previously did of Britney Spears.

Let us review some of Scherzinger’s most notorious imitations: Janet Jackson dance breaks, RedOne/Lady Gaga productions and a Britney Spears video concept for ‘Poison’, Rihanna’s vocal tones and West Indian twang in ‘Right There’ and now Avril Lavigne’s singing style on ‘X Factor’. Indeed, Scherzinger’s name is Nicole but she sounds like everyone else.

   Trent what? I’m not a big fan of her, but when she imitatied Britney Spears on Conan O’brien, she was really good. She sang just like Britney did when Britney used to sing in the late 90s early 2000s.

   It wasn’t a mockery. It was uncanny. Come on trent. And when she did that for Conan, she made it clear that she was doing an imitation.

   Other than that, have your opinion. But “mockery” uh uh. it was spot on!

   This performance wasn’t the worst I’ve seen but it sure wasn’t the best. I think Nicole had gotten so used to being the star of PCD that she doesn’t really understand that she’s not going to automatically be liked as a solo star. She needs to give people a good reason to want to buy her stuff and this performance is not it.
