Burning Up is back with a special edition courtesy of From Above! Created by Mathew Knowles – the mastermind behind Destiny’s Child and controversial father of Beyonce – the quintet are preparing for the release of their debut album, ‘Breaking From Above’, which is preceded by the sassy lead single, ‘Not the Same Girl’.
From Above will issue their ‘Breaking From Above’ LP via Music World December 12th in the UK. Knowles is also the executive producer of a reality show of the same name, which is currently airing outside of the US and depicts the formation fo the group.
Listen to From Above’s ‘Not the Same Girl’ below:
Despite the obvious similarities between the names of From Above and Destiny’s Child, these girls are actually more similar to Danity Kane. However, it was hard to ignore the emulation of Beyonce’s signature swagger at some points during ‘Not the Same Girl’ and the ‘Crazy in Love’ vocal run a 2:40.
Yet, with the industry in dire need of a girl group, almost any entity is welcome. Hopefully, Knowles carefully handles this project and develops these young women into viable acts. Indeed, his track record beyond Destiny’s Child is not very impressive and the last thing we need is another Danity Kane disappointment.
