Monica may have just joined the ranks of Leona Lewis and Alexandra Burke as artists who have delayed their new albums. In fact, similar to Lewis, Monica has been forced to revamp her entire ‘New Life’ LP, which may result in her postponing its originally scheduled November 29th release date.
As has become the norm with modern artists, Monica used Twitter to break the news to her fans that she will restructure ‘New Life’ in a collaborative effort with RCA Records. However, she emphasised that “all is still in motion”, despite averring that the record is simply “coming soon.”
Read what Monica had to say about the ‘New Life’ delay below:
MonicaBrown ❤Team Mo❤I wanna thank u for your love, dedication & support.. RCA & I are restructuring the entire plan for the album & the entire movement 11/3/11 12:14 AM |
MonicaBrown All is STILL IN MOTION…❤I Love u guys.. NEW LIFE coming soon, pls continue to request Until It’s Gone at radio & video outlets..Be Blessed 11/3/11 12:16 AM |
Unfortunately for Monica, this situation was easily predicted. Although the release of her video for ‘Until It’s Gone’ has spurred moderate interest in the record – it is currently at a new peak at #28 on Urban radio after climbing 7 spots compared to last week – there has been little excitement for ‘New Life’ beyond her fanbase.
If Monica really wants to salvage this project then recording more songs with crossover appeal would greatly help her cause. The tracks that she has release thus far were incredibly niche and quite forgettable. It is unlikely that anyone wants her to join the Dance/Pop bandwagon but experimenting with grander arrangements – both vocal and instrumental – similar to Maxwell and Alicia Keys, could take her beyond Mc Donalds radio status.
Good! She needs to get back in the studio and make some banging tracks! She has it in her, i’m just waiting to hear what’s been hiding in her for so long
Hopefully this desperate times wont call for desperate measures like collaborating with Nicki Minaj or Justin Bieber…
She’ll be fine. Mo always deliver as far as albums and I’m glad they’re going back to the drawing board if it means more success. Always here for talent, still can’t wait for the album!
Never mind all that, if we love her music we have to support it. Right now we really need a change in music & artists. Now if only she do some songs that will crossover then she is set.
Had she continued in promoting Still Standing, she wouldn’t be here with this rushed album.
If she would’ve promoted Still Standing. She would have had a bigger fanbase seeking for her so she can make these false on this album. 2 more singles off of StillStanding would be made it platinum
” beyond Mc Donalds radio status.”
I cannot Trent!!!! I just can’t …….lmao
Thank god, I love Monica she is one of my favorite singers but the songs shes released so far sound like left overs
