Michael Jackson’s legendary ‘Thriller’ album was released exactly 29 years ago on November 30th 1982 so it is only fitting for us to celebrate this global phenomenon with a special edition of Way Back Wednesday. Join us as we reflect several of the iconic videos and performances from the era that changed popular culture forever and earned Jackson the everlasting title of King of Pop.
Watch all of the action below:
‘Beat It’
‘Billie Jean’
‘Human Nature’
‘Thriller’
No other artist on planet Earth has ever accomplished what Jackson did during his lifetime. He was truly the complete package – singer, songwriter, producer, dancer, arranger and visionary – and the perfect Pop star.
Several of the younger entertainers whom have been compared to him barely possess a 10th of Jackson’s talent and have yet to put forward a record that matches the magnitude of ‘Thriller’. Indeed, those acts who have emulated his dancing definitely can’t sing his songs and those who have the ability to sing as well as dance are certainly not songwriters. The truly was only one and will always be only one King of Pop!
Watch the bonus performance of Jackson performing my personal favourite track from ‘Thriller’, ’Wanna be Startin’ Somethin’, during his ‘Bad Tour’ in 1987 below:
‘Wanna Be Startin’ Something’”
Thoughts?
Classic. I love each and every one of these songs. Rest In Peace, Mike!
There will never be another.
This album never gets old. Love it!
YESSSS!!!! Finally someone who knows that there will never be another Michael Jackson. This man was the epitome of what true talent really is. Some acts out today are great but they will never be on the level of Michael Jackson.
JUST CAUGHT THAT CHRIS BROWN AND BEYONCE SHADE IN THE LAST PARAGRAPH.. BEYONCE IS A SONGWRITER. WHETHER OR NOT YOU WANT TO BELIEVE IS YOUR PROBLEM.
LONG LIVE THE KING THOUGH. NO ONE CAN COMPARE
Beyonce is NOT a songwriter “whether or not you want to believe is your problem”. I really wish Beyonce’s fans stop comparing her to MJ because she will never be on MJ’s level…. lol…. she is not even on Alicia keys level when it comes to songwritting.
finally an article which gives him the credit for his true artistic genius.none like him before he came and none after he’s gone.truly a unique artist who comes along only once in a lifetime.
SHE IS NOT ON MJ’S LEVEL. IM NOT PUTTING HER THERE. BUT DISCREDITING HER ABOUT SONG WRITING ALL TOGETHER IS NOT RIGHT. SHE WRITES A LOT OF HER SONGS. THAT’S ALL IM SAYING.
I THINK IT’S RIDICULOUS TO COMPARE BEYONCE TO MJ. THE ONLY THING IS SEE HER EVER COMING CLOSE TO HIM IS HER LIVE PERFORMANCE ABILITY. THAT IS ALL. BUT LET’S GIVE CREDIT WHERE CREDIT IS DUE. SHE WRITES A LOT OF HER SONGS. HOWEVER THE QUALITY OF HER MUSIC IS NOT VERY GOOD. SHE STEPPED UP A LOT WITH 4 THOUGH.
Beyonce is NOT even the best female dancer….Janet and Ciara will whoop that butt. When has Beyonce done a full dance routine in a video without backup dancers? Voice is ok, but she is the not MJ.
He’s the best! Get over it bitches!
Oh lord how i love this man. If he had ever met me he would still be alive today. I would’ve taken care him.
Nice way to celebrate his body of work and I can do see you singing and dancing to that song Trent “wanna be starting something” lololol
CLASSIC TIMELESS IMMORTAL. (not that intangible objects can be immortal, but you know what I’m saying) I was around when this album first came out on wax. (yes I am that old) It was mystical and magical for me then, as a child and is the same now, in my *cough* older years. No other album has been as special to me as this one.
