2011 The Lava Lizard Awards: Winners!

Written by TriniTrent | Filed under Award Shows,Flaming Features

After a rigorous week of voting, heated debates and animated commentary, the results of this year’s The Lava Lizard Awards have finally been tallied! Literally thousands votes were cast in the series of polls but two artists in particular dominated the major fields – Adele and Beyonce.

Both Adele and Beyonce received top honors in four categories with the former winning such titles as Album of the Year for her top-selling ’21′ LP, Single of the Year for ‘Rolling in the Deep’ and Best Female Artist. Beyonce, on the other hand, ironically won both Video of the Year and Worst Video of Year for ‘Run the World (Girls)’ and ’1+1′, respectively.

However, all of the winners weren’t as obvious as the previously mentioned acts. In fact, there were several surprises on the list of honorees, including Bruno Mars who nabbed the Best Male Artist crown.

These are about right, although Mariah would be the most anticipated along with Brandy and Christina,

    • Bee

“Beyonce revealing her baby bump at the 2011 MTV VMA” was not the most shocking event – surprising yes, but definitely not shocking. Beyonce said herself many times that she would want to have kids around this age. She’s also married and in a stable relationship and coming off a period where it would be ideal to take a break (with ’4′ not being incredibly successful but still having a very successful album under her belt, ‘Sasha Fierce’).

RE: The “Alert: You Need A New Team”. In a way Rihanna’s team seems to be doing a lot right (especially compared to the others in this category) business wise and in terms of chart/single success (b/c Rihanna seems content with her low album sales). Leona Lewis on the other hand… seems lost. Kelly Rowland needs to recognize and learn her market – i.e. releasing songs in the UK that would’ve really worked in the U.S.

That performance of Adele at the Brit awards is phenomenal and I’m glad it won because no other came close in 2011. No gimmicks, no dance routine just her, her voice and the piano. Girl slayed that night!

Most results were good choices. Hope you keep doing this every year Trent :)

    • Taylor

      nice results. :)

    • whatever

This was fun…I must say I am surprise by the most anticipated album…

    • yawn

AMY WINEHOUSE’S DEATH WAS BY FAR MORE SHOCKING, I MEAN COMMON WE WERE EXPECTING BEYONCE TO GET PREGNANT ANYTIME SOON

AS FOR LIVE PERFORMANCE, BEYONCE AT BILLBOARD SNATCHED EVERYONE’S WIG THIS YEAR. BY A MILEEEE

YESSS FOR BRUNO MARS WINNING BEST MALE. HE DESERVES IT. HIM AND BRUNO ARE BY FAR THE MOST TALENTED ARTISTS TO EMERGE IN THE PAST FEW YEARS,

WHO THE HELL IS REALLY CHECKING FOR CHRISTINA AGULERA THOUGH?? *SIDE EYE*..

RIHANNA’S TEAM IS DOING PERFECTLY. SHE IS STILL ON TOP AS SHE HAS BEEN FOR THE PAST 4YRS. KELLY IS THE ONE WHO NEEDS A NEW TEAM. HOPEFULLY BEYONCE AND HER TEAM LEARN FROM THE MESS THAT CAME WITH 4

PARTY > LOOK AT ME NOW…. THAT IS ALL
      EVERY OTHER WINNER WAS DESERVING
