2011 has been an eventful year for the music industry and although several artists experienced commercial upsets, there were those who enjoyed incredible success. Of couse, no other act made an impact on the Billboard Year-End charts quite like Adele.
Indeed, Adele dominated the 2011 as the yea’s breakthrough act and left her mark on multiple Year-End tallies. In addition to nabbing the Top Artist title ahead of Rihanna, Katy Perry and Lady Gaga, Adele also clocked the top Billboard Hot 100 song with ‘Rolling in the Deep’, which held the #1 slot of seven weeks – longer than any other track this year – and sold over 5.5 million downloads.
Furthermore, Adele’s ’21′ album has been listed as the top Billboard 200 album with sales exceeding 4.67 million copies since its release in February. The British Soul singer rebuffed fierce competition from Taylor Swift’s ‘Speak Now’ and Lady Gaga’s ‘Born This Way’, which landed at #2 and #3 on the Year-End list, respectively.
The Year-End Chart comprised the top releases of the December 4th 2010 to November 26 2011 period. The Top New Artist list reflected those new acts who released albums after October 2010.

I’m not stan but I just lOVEE Adele. She deserves all of this *sings setset fire to rain*
*set
Adele never surprised me, Bruno did amazing too!! i see a little too much Rihanna & Katy Pery tho.
Justin Bieber shouldn’t be in the top artists section, he didn’t release anything but UTM.
Proud of my dawg chris, he did so great!! unfortunatly his album underperformed a little after it’s week at #1. but he showed everybody he’s the current Urban King, who else got a #1 rap song when being a singer? lol
I love so deeply Adele, and I’m so happy for her winnings. She’s the no-doubt Artist of the Year, and the best selling singer of 2011. I’m glad to read it, but what the f*ck happened to Beyoncé? Why isn’t she in no one of this lists? At least in R&B songs but… NO. I can’t with you.
Okay, I’m really not feeling billboard anymore. The holy grail of bs charting. Adele is legit but I question other placements. Trent or any other poster explain why Katy charted more than the other but comes out lower? Why Chris Brown made most charts and is number 10? I really would like to know how this charting works. Popularity of a song? Sales? Radio play? What? Thanks.
Where oh where is King B? Puts on quidocals. I still can’t see her!
Where is Rihanna?
@thetruth You see Rihanna. Her album is in the top ten best selling. Trent didn’t mention her in the Kanye collab, Turn On The Lights but she’s there too. Mmmmhmmmm
21 crosses 13 million this week.
im glad that these lists were compiled by Billboard and not by random folk because they would be full of Beyoncé and she would not be deserving of it… lol. #THATISALL
[...] Adele Dominates The Billboard Year-End Charts [...]
@lifefromfarside, chris made the list base on all of his singles sales and radio play you should know about this the whole list is based on these artists radio plays and sales.
happy for Adele and Bruno. they deserve it ….yay!!
Where is Jason Derulo… lol
I asked for information from someone that is knowledgeable about the charting, preferably an adult. I’m still asking.
Nor am I just asking about Chris Brown.
@lifefromthefarside, you just ask why is he’s in the list?
