Christina Aguilera Channels Mariah Carey During Disney Parade

Christina Aguilera filmed her appearance at the Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade in Anaheim last month and the footage of the event aired earlier today as part of the Holiday festivities. However, while belting a cover of ‘Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas’, it sounded as though the singer was paying homage to another diva – Mariah Carey.
Aguilera has stated many times that Carey is indeed her idol so it was no surprise to hear the similarities in their vocal stylings. Yet, the near-identical riffs and runs of the former’s showing today at the Disney Parade to Carey’s performances was almost haunting.

Aguilera sounded fantastic compared to the strained showings from the last year but the similarities to Carey’s style were so blatant that I felt as though I was listening to the soundtrack of ‘Single White Female’. Ironically, though, of all the artists in the industry today, the two that should collaborate are Aguilera and Carey. Yes, they have had a very bitter feud, but there is no denying that they would sound phenomenal on the same track.

Lol, Trent, why wont you leave my fave alone. Makes sense though; all non singers channel Madonna, and the singers Xtina, Leona etc, channel Mariah.

I agree. And I think Christina has slated more as her idol than Mariah, besides, I heard both Whitney and Mariah in this performance, Idk why Trent never like to give Whitney her props. He sounds pressed and jealous

glad someone else mentioned it… the vocal she displayed here is the vocal from her Xmas album.. and as someone who has, herself, stated that Mariah was an inspiration, it’s not shocking that vocal has Mariah-like qualities… in fact, of all the angles to take with this story… it was the most inconsequential and irrelevant. The real story, which was grazed over, is the quality of her voice and the quality of the performance… comparison to Mariah (or any other vocalist) is not needed.

She does sound a lot like Mariah though and to those saying that she sounds like young Christina then you’re just proving Trent’s point because young Christina was a Mariah clone

Oh Trent… I love Mariah but it’s just lame how you always HAVE to bring her up in any article, yes we all know Xtina was influenced by Mariah growing up just like Mariah was probably influenced by Whitney (though you’d never mension it). It’s sad that instead of making this an article about the improvement of her vouce and what a great performance it was you turned it into yet annother excuse to PRAISE Mariah.

I’m glad she’s taking vocal lessons, she’s naturally gifted and I always thought she was raw, and needed some guidance as far as using her voice. I thought Linda Perry did a good job with her on “Beautiful” and this performance here is even better, when you sound good live! That is just…. Not a lot of artist today do, so it’s a treat.
I agree with some of the posts, no doubt Mariah is talented, but why bring her up in almost every post? Sigh!
I’m not going to speak about current Mariah’s vocals because I’m still getting my life off of the old Mariah; that Mariah slayed!!!!
Yes Christina sounded great but its completely ridiculous for the trolls on here to compare this to Mariah in 1995! eww as if!! even the live pieces of Mariahs 2010 performances were better than this. Christina’s voice has gotten lower and sounds very different from 2000. But i have to say this is an improvement from xtinas recent performances. Im a fan of both but im not delusional.
