Leona Lewis returned to the stage where she launched her career earlier today when she performed on ‘The X Factor (UK)’. Dressed in a simple red dress, the rising diva delivered a pitch-perfect performance of the title track from her recently released ‘Hurt’ EP.
Watch Lewis scale through the octaves below:
This performance was technically flawless but the song itself was quite dull. In fact, until Lewis unleashed the full magnitude of her voice at the end of the rendition, I was utterly bored and felt the overwhelming desire to skip through the set in hopes that there would be a dramatic key change or surprise guest. Still, when it came down to the actual singing, Lewis was astounding.
AMAZING. Say No More!
There’s a reason why pop vocalists should not sing certain songs. This is a NIN’s original but Cash version is even better than theirs. Johnny Cash probably didn’t even have a decent vocal range however, his singing was so powerful and touching that makes you want to cry. But this girl’s version gave me nothing. She could hit the most magnificent notes and yet you don’t feel a thing… that’s quite sad. #GirlBye.
She sounds great but there was absolutely no feeling at all. She doesn’t convey the pain that is within the lyrics. She has the vocal ability without the passion to carry it. I think that she is so caught up in being technically perfect that she won’t allow herself to convey emotion.
Are the former poster’s serious? That was an utterly emotional and frankly astounding performance esp, given the hyper frenetic atmosphere of the event she sang at. This girl is very special. She has a new fan in me!
On the photo i thought it was JLO for a sec
At first glance, i dawt the thumbnail looked like Alicia Keys
