Did you know that Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears were both nominated for the Best New Artist trophy at the 2000 Grammy Awards but the former won the gold?
Along with Macy Gray, Kid Rock and Susan Tedeschi, both Aguilera and Spears were nominated in the Best New Artist field at the 42nd annual Grammy Awards. However, Aguilera trumped her chart rival in the race for the honor.
To date, Aguilera has won four Grammys for her work, including two for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance and one for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals for the song Lady Marmalade (with Mya, Pink & Lil Kim). Watch Aguilera’s acceptance speech for her Best New Artist title below:

Like they said a Grammy is a Grammy. The Latin Grammys gives recognition to Latin music that tthey wouldnt receive in the regular Grammys. No big “thing”. Stop being so easily offended

I still remember that day when she was praising MC; “My idol, Miss Mariah Carey” and I’m quoting!!!
LOL; she deserved to win that night for sure, for a moment I thought it would be Brit because she had a more successful year but it was a pleasant surprise to see CA winning instead.
Xtina deserved it, Britney was definately one of the best performers of our generation but Grammy’s are about vocal tallent and Xtina has it locked down.
Also yeah it’s true she has 5 Grammys, a Latin Grammy is a Grammy… also i love that i can say she genuinly earned all her Grammy’s which isn’t the case with ALL Beyonce’s 16 Grammy’s… i find it offensive that legends like Mariah etc who have been in the game WAY longer and have given many vocal performances that shat on Beyonce have a fraction of her Grammys… #FAIL
ppl are silly,beyonce has 16, alicia about 12-15 and kanye anout that same amount, because they were awarded in the context of their time. they will all not be winning as much in aretha’s era, or whitney and MC’s era.
