Did you know that all of Sade’s studio albums have been certified platinum or higher in the US?
All six of Sade’s studio albums have been certified platinum or higher in the US for shipments exceeding one million copies. In fact, with the exception of their latest release, ‘Solider of Love’, which was certified platinum, all of group’s studio records have achieved a minimum of triple platinum status - ’Diamond Life’, ‘Promise’ and ‘Love Deluxe’ have all been certified quadruple platinum whereas ‘Stronger than Pride’ and ‘Lovers Rock’ are both triple platinum.
Interestingly, none of Sade’s singles have topped the Billboard Hot 100. Their highest-charting tracks were ‘Smooth Operator’ and ‘The Sweetest Taboo’, both of which peaked at #5 on the lineup.
Watch Sade perform ‘Smooth Operator’ below:
Sade was the shit. I remember my parents playing her CD’s at night, dancing and listening. Thanks, Trent for bringing back this memory.
Love Sade!!! Love Deluxe and Stronger Than Pride are my favorite albums. She is great live too.
Sade can go her entire career and say that she’s never flopped.
Just proves what a loyal fanbase she has.
Sade is always worth waiting for
I love Sade
Talent and artistry appreciated. This band and singer don’t have to remind you of how many grammys they’ve won or how many albums they sold. The make good music; timeless, classic music without gimmicks and hubris bordering on arrogance. So many acts today should take note and recognize the essence behind true longevitity—longevity that isn’t based in a need to prove how great and lasting their artistry is.
She’s so talented, well they are to lol…
Now this is a very impressive Music Minute. Way to go girl!
Thats wonderful
@jera totally agree. True artistry is lost today. So many people get caught up in numbers. I remember my mom pklaying their albums as a kid. No Ordinary Love is definitely one of my favorites. Its funny how Sade can leave for years and come back with a great album and the fanbase is still there. Maxwell is another one too, who left for a while and came back with a great album. Because the fan base trusts the artist to put out great material. Just timeless…every artist today should take note.
Also for them to be from the UK and have this much success in the US is also commendable
