Katy Perry is determined to break Michael Jackson’s record of having five #1 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 and she has enlisted B.o.B. to help her achieve that feat. In fact, the Pop star has followed her usual trend of generating cheap remixes and applied that formula to her latest hit, ‘The One That Got Away’.
If you’re worried about Perry outperforming Jackson on the Hot 100 then your feelings are quite justified because the song entered the top 5 of the chart this week. Perry has become the third artist in history – after George Michael and Janet Jackson – to achieve six top 5 tracks from one album.

This girl is a joke. She can’t get a hit without other singers joining her reduced price remixes.
Im sick off Katy… I really am!
That B.O.B.remix is a joke right! He sounds so out of place! Just to show how disgusted I am with this tactic, I’ll be buying 1 single this week and next next week from the artists in the top 3 on Itunes so that’s either Rihanna, Bruno Mars or Flo Rider
What a fucking desperate as whore she is.She knows she’s been unable to make any kind of impact on the industry and is seen as nothing more than a hello-kitty joke, that’s why she’s trying to ‘prove herself’.Sadly, everyone will know that her grand achievement is fictitious. She’ll never be a real critically acclaimed, significant and respected popstar.Even Rihanna is better than this candyland bitch.
@Rainey that’s a lie. 4 of her number ones from Teenage Dream were by herself. (Last Friday Night remix doesn’t count because the original sold more than the remix that week).
Anyway, her label is just so impatient. All of her singles can hit number 1 sooner or later because they’re radio gold. The only thing these remixes do is strip the credibility away from her achievements. It’s sad.
@NailaKnowles blame the label, not Katy. She doesn’t even announce these “remixes” on her twitter. I doubt this remix will have much of an impact because no one’s checking for B.O.B. at the moment.
@x Two of her singles had rappers–Snoop and Kanye–and the Kanye version of ET wasn’t on the album. The TGIF remix helped bump the song to number 1. It wouldn’t have gone on its own. Totga wouldn’t get to number 1 on its own either. And what about the price cuts? Oh, and blaming her label doesn’t cut it. She is ultimately responsible for this nonsense.
[...] New Song: Katy Perry – ‘The One That Got Away (Remix) (Ft. B.o.B)’ (Snippet) [...]
@Rainey California Gurls does not count because it wasn’t a remix. I Kissed A Girl, Hot n’ Cold, Teenage Dream and Firework became hits without any features. TGIF doesn’t count because the original outsold the remix the week it went number one, which is why it wasn’t counted as Missy Elliot’s number one as well. E.T. is the only legitimate single from TD that needed a remix. Also, Her label decides the pricing of the single and whoever gets on the remix, her name’s just on it.
