Marcus Collins lost ‘The X Factor (UK)’ battle to Little Mix but he just might win the war in the longrun. The singer has announced the official first single from his upcoming debut alum and it is such a random selection that the resulting shock value could take it straight to the top of the charts.
In an incredibly risky move, Collins has chosen to release a cover The White Stripes’ ‘Seven Nation Army’ as his debut single. The song will be issued in the UK on March 4th; barely a week ahead of the March 12th arrival date of his album.
Collins reportedly wrote at least six of the songs on his debut album and the project is being overseen by his ‘X Factor (UK)’ mentor, Gary Barlow, who serves as its executive producer. The title of the LP has yet to be revealed.

This could either go incredibly well or horribly wrong for Collins. He is definitely very talented but ‘Seven Nation Army’ is favourite of the MTV generation and starkly different from anything that he did on the show.
Honestly, however, it would be great to hear Collins venture into R&B and Soul instead of covering Pop hits. If he develops into yet another cover act similar to Leona Lewis then it would be a blatant waste of his ability.
