Did you know that, including their original Girls Tyme lineup, Destiny’s Child comprised a total of nine members?
Mathew Knowles originally formed the Girls Tyme group in 1990 with six members - Beyonce, Ashely Davis, Kelly Rowland, LaTavia Roberson, Nikki Taylor and Nina Taylor. Subsequently, the lineup was altered in 1993 when Nikki, Nina and Ashley were replaced by LeToya Luckett.
After several name changes, the group began operating under the title of Destiny’s Child in 1996. However, that was not the final major detour in their musical development as LeToya and LaTavia were also axed from the lineup in early 2000.
Why did LeToya and LaTavia get fired from Destiny’s Child? The duo reportedly sought to sever ties with Mathew and he unceremoniously replaced them with Michelle Williams and Farrah Franklin. LeToya and LaTavia supposedly only found out about the switch when the video for ‘Say My Name’ premiered on television and the new members were miming their parts.
Later, Farrah left Destiny’s Child in 2000 after only five months. Finally, the group continued as a trio and remained intact until the start of their hiatus in 2005.

If only U guys knew what the REAL music minute was. Hmph LMFAO!
They could have been the next Salt & Pepper! LOL!
One of those three that left the group did some work with Prince a couple years back.
Michelle remains the oddest destiny’s child member in my eyes. she just seems for lack of a better word, ‘retarded’.
Yawn
The Supremes “model” worked…and was what they should have gone with from the start, given what I feel was the real impetus behind the group forming int he first place.
@Jamal Ashley is the one who went on and worked with Prince, but she goes by Tamar Davis and she works with Tyler Perry!
yup indeed. the supremes model was always matthew’s plan and he did it successfully. dc was beyonce’s stepping stone
Haha!
KeKe Wyatt was also in an early version of Destiny’s Child.
I hadn’t realized how underdeveloped DC were until Trent posted that Girl Group music minute. Honestly, any of the “singers” could have been given a platform looking at that old BillsBillsBills performance, because Beyonce didn’t natural stand out, even though she was the strongest singer, but she was “put out front.” Supremes model worked.
