Did you know that Lady Gaga is the first artist in 43 years to receive 3 consecutive Album of the Year nominations at the Grammy Awards?
Gaga’s ‘Born this Way’ album is nominated for Album of the Year at the 2012 Grammy Awards, thus earning her a third consecutive nods in that category. Previously, her ‘The Fame’ debut album and her ‘The Fame Monster’ EP were nominated at the 2010 and 2011 shows, respectively.
Prior to Gaga, the last artists to be nominated for Album of the Year in as many consecutive years or more were The Beatles in the late 1960s. The legendary group received nods in that field in 5 straight years from 1965 to 1969.
Gaga’s ‘You & I’ from her ‘Born this Way’ album has also been nominated for Best Pop Solo Performance at the 2012 Grammy Awards. Watch the song’s accompanying video below:
I don’t care about the Grammys but she’s been truly consistent when it comes to her music.
She was pretentious by claiming BTW would be the album of the decade, however is a solid work and some of her best songs are there, just take as example the video Trent posted: You & I is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!! I wish she would make more songs like this: more piano – less dance.
That is a great achievement. I think songs like You & I are where she really shines as the focus is on her songwriting and ability on the piano. Marry The Night is also a great song and I was surprised it wasn’t a bigger hit. I hope she takes home at least one grammy.
Good.Her music is progressive.
In a time when u have artists releasing 5 albums in 5 years……Go GaGa. Each of her albums have been solid..not trash
