Did you that Alanis Morissette’s ‘Jagged Little Pill’ became the top-selling album of 1996 in the US without producing a #1 single on the Billboard Hot 100?
‘Jagged’ sold over 7.4 million copies in the US during 1996 was the best-selling album of that year yet the highest-charting single from the record - ’Ironic’ - only peaked at #4 on the Hot 100. The LP eventually became the most successful album of the 1990s on the Billboard 200 and even outperformed Whitney Houston’s ‘The Bodyguard’ soundtrack, which ranked at #2.
Additionally, ‘Jagged’ won the Grammy Awards for Album of the Year and Best Rock Album at the 1996 Grammy Awards ceremony. As of January 1st 2012, it has sold over 14.7 million copies in the US as the third highest-selling album of the SoundScan era (1991 to present) and has been certified 16x platinum.

JLP is the shit. Alanis actually had nice vocals compared to the other rock chicks in the 90s.
As a Mariah fan I’ve always been bitter about the 1996 Grammys but it’s great that Album of the Year went to such a good album.
One of the greatest female rock albums EVER.
Such a pity that after this album she faded away. She decided not to be “angry” anymore, became a Buddhist and her music and lyrics completely changed.
I’ve never liked this so called “New Alanis” but I’ll always love this album because is perfect and SO representative of the 90s music -takes me back to my days as a teenager lol-
You oughta know & Forgiven are my faves! Can’t believe the first didn’t reach the top of the charts… didn’t know that!!!
Great record and awesome sales. Alanis is very talented.
